Shilpi Khera
I live in the Northern Kentucky area with my husband Rishi & our daughter Hiya.
Hiya is 17-years old now & she was five when we finally received her diagnosis. Since then, the CDKL5 community not only provided me with support, but hope, care & love.
Advocating and being involved with the foundation and community has become part of who we are and what we do. Currently, I serve as a family support representative, and we try to meet as many families as we can to build connections and help others as they face this diagnosis. We also participate in fundraising efforts and awareness campaigns to help support the work being done.
Additionally, Rishi and I have served on advisory panels to help educate industry partners on the unmet needs of our community. As parents and caregivers, we become experts, and sharing our experiences will lead to successful clinical trial development and advance treatment options.
We are big advocates of inclusion & we try to help Hiya participate in as many activities. We believe this leads to a full life for us and Hiya!
I have a degree in accounting, and I am excited for the opportunity to use my 20 years of corporate experience serving as treasurer for the IFCR. I feel blessed to serve our CDKL5 community & look forward to this journey.
